SOLD --- Among the '59 Oldsmobiles, the pinnacle of design was reached with the Holiday Sport Sedan, a name the company reserved for those four-door, pillarless hardtop models with long, low roofs and wraparound rear glass that we know today as the "flattop." Fewer than 38,500 of these Holiday Sport Sedans were ever produced, and they're an atypical sight at car shows today.

Exterior:

The paint remains in an exceptional good shape that appears very shine and beautiful. No rust is visible anywhere on the bodywork. And all the complicated exterior trim pieces appear to be in very good, shiny shape. Most Dynamic 88s were delivered with full wheel covers, this example has beautiful Jetstar Starfire hubcaps that give an extra special look to this Oldsmobile.

Interior:

The original factory Lurex vinyl-and-cloth interior is fully present and in excellent shape.  The seats are in very good condition, there are no rips, tears or discoloration to report. The headliner is original to the car and described as being in perfect condition.

Mechanics:

Oldsmobile may have shared its B-body architecture with Buick in 1960 but produced its own V-8 engines in Lansing, Michigan. This Dynamic 88 has the base 371-cubic inch V-8 with a two-barrel carburetor, which was rated by the factory at 265 horsepower. The engine is fully original, with no modifications from factory stock. The engine block and valve covers are still finished in their original gold enamel, and the engine bay presents as accurate to factory original and generally very clean.

Oldsmobile was the first to use General Motors' new Hydra-Matic transmission in 1940. By the time this Dynamic 88 was produced, Oldsmobile had upgraded to the new Controlled Coupling Hydra-Matic, which it called the Jetaway. In 1959, that meant four forward speeds controlled by a secondary fluid coupling with sprag clutches. This Jetaway is original to the car, its current functionality is "perfect." The engine starts from cold with only a few pumps of the accelerator.
